Beautiful Acreage Addition Located In Riverview Pines, County of Grande Prairie

The Challenge

This space was a 30-year-old log house: our challenge was to update and add on to this unique structure while staying true to the original log cabin feel. The 1400 square foot addition must seamlessly become a part of the home. This meant meticulously creating modern foundations, framing, and finishes to look like the addition was completed at the same time as the log home. It was no easy feat, but we proudly look back on this project as a perfect example of careful planning and attention paid off.

 

Features of This Custom Home

Natural, Custom House Addition

The final look of this home was just as it was planned—seamless, above all else. Both the original home and the modern addition show a beautiful, updated interior with more space and fashionable furnishings. Slate flooring and stylish sliding barn doors give The Jasper Addition a modern farmhouse feel. After our work was completed, this home emanated a warm, modern mountain style worthy of a magazine feature.

Energy-Efficient Home Interior

One of our goals for this home was to make it very energy efficient, so we updated both mechanical and electrical systems. We put in high-efficiency equipment, added on-demand hot water heating, updated the furnace with a modern replacement, and improved the home’s insulation. Our finishing touch was triple-pane windows, retaining more insulation and saving more energy in the long run.

Authentic-Feeling Mountain Exterior

Passers by will immediately notice the bold red metal roof: a captivating feature, this roof sheds snow and ice easily and requires little maintenance. Surrounding the home are cedar shakes and high-end overhead garage doors, together striking a balance between a woodsy and a carriage-house look. A heavy, beautifully crafted wooden door of Douglas fir is the perfect final touch that brings this home together. Both rustic and beautiful, this home was named after the little mountain town it reminds us of.
