Our mission
We build beautiful homes, but perhaps more importantly, we build relationships. At Urban Escapes, we have the passion and experience to bring your vision to life, whether modest or extravagant.
In 1998, Urban Escapes was founded by Jim and young Tyler Lorencz, father-and-son building duo. The desire to build beautiful custom homes stemmed from years of working together on personal backyard projects, which eventually culminated to Jim’s first, personal custom home. After finishing the home, Jim and Tyler realized they shared a passion for building great houses for good people. In years forward their projects reflected the relationship, pride and workmanship Jim and Tyler always put into their original backyard projects.
In 2004, Tyler officially became a partner with his father, and in 2011 became the sole owner. Jim is now officially retired, though the duo still regularly work on projects together. The two feel incredibly fortunate to have found such success and to have won several awards for their unique home projects, ranging from rustic log and timber frame homes to modern and contemporary homes. Urban Escapes homes are found throughout Grande Prairie, including Carriage Lane, Taylor Estates, and various lots in the County of Grande Prairie.
“We have found success by simply not taking on too much at a time and giving ourselves the time for individualized, personal service. Our philosophy is built on the idea we are building not just a home, but a relationship with the people we serve.” – Tyler Lorencz
